To support the DOH Vision, the staff of the Palm Beach County Health Department
are committed to being “Champions For The Healthiest Community In the
Nation.” Our Vision statement defines what we want to achieve. It
provides guidance and direction in fulfilling the mission. |

integrated state, county & community efforts.
Our Mission articulates the purpose of our organization; it is the reason for
our existence. To support this Mission, the Palm Beach County Health
Department’s Guiding Principle is to promote and protect a healthy
Community and environment with a focus on prevention and preparedness. | OUR

beliefs shaped the Goals found in our Strategic Plan.
Teamwork: As PBCHD employees, we collaborate with fellow staff and
community partners to achieve common goals. Teamwork helps our organization
build relationships, solve problems, deliver services, and achieve our Mission.
Teamwork is achieved by fostering an environment of open communication,
continuous learning and growth, and participatory problem solving.
Diversity: We benefit from the contribution of each and every person.
Diversity between people and cultures is to be respected. We strive through our
daily activities to create an environment where diversity is appreciated and
encouraged. Diversity is achieved by accepting and understanding differences in
ideas and practices. Our actions should reflect cultural sensitivity and
maintain the dignity of our staff and the population we serve.
Leadership: We all have a leadership role in creating a supportive,
encouraging, and motivating environment. Leadership forms the basis for success
in achieving our Mission and living our Vision and Values. Leadership is
achieved through embracing change, being visionary, and involving others in the
decision-making process.

responsibility to make decisions. Our organizational culture supports staff in
using their initiative to take actions that support our Goals. Empowerment is
achieved through sharing information, improving processes, providing training
and resources, responding to staff concerns, and focusing on results.
