Institutional Health

The purpose of this Environmental Health Program is to detect and prevent disease caused by natural and man-made factors in the environment. The program is part of the States public health mission and includes the following key functions.

    Inspection of various institutions

Inspected facilities include private schools, foster homes, adult living facilities or homes for the elderly, adult family homes, residential drug treatment facilities, and other residential facilities. Many of these facilities are also licensed by other State agencies (Department of Children & Families, Agency for Health Care Administration).

Visit the Childcare Section for more on Childcare and Family Day Care Facilities.
