-Now, for the first time in Floridas history, nurses can renew their licenses on-line. As many as 60,000 nurses due to renew their licenses by April 30 may now do so by simply logging onto
http://www.doh.state.fl.us/erenewal/ and using a Visa, MasterCard or Discover card for payment.
This project continues the efforts of the Bush-Brogan administration to seek ways to use internet technology to make government more accessible and user friendly to the people it serves," said Department of Health Secretary Robert G. Brooks, M.D. We hope to use this pilot project as the basis for an expanded system that can ultimately be used for renewals for all of Floridas 425,000 licensed health professionals.
"We are appreciative of the department's efforts to make licensure renewal more convenient and less time consuming," said Barbara Lumpkin, associate executive director of the Florida Nurses Association (FNA). "Our members can now renew their licenses without having to take time from their busy schedules to write a check and make a trip to the post office."
Using their personal identification number (PIN), nurses can renew their license and also update their address. If a licensee has misplaced their PIN, they can call 850-245-4260 or 850-245-4282 and, with proper identification, obtain one over the phone. When completing their on-line renewal, they will be given an authorization statement and mailed their renewed license.
Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioners (ARNPs) are in the process of submitting fingerprints and other information to be used on the Department of Healths Profiling website (www.doh.state.fl.us); therefore, for now they will be unable to renew using the e-renewal system.
