PALM BEACH, FL—The
Governor’s Council for
Community Health
Partnerships installed its
officers and new members at
a breakfast meeting recently
at the National Croquet
Center.
Guest and keynote speaker, at this year’s 10th annual event,
was Florida Atlantic
University President Frank
T. Brogan who also assisted
in recognizing partners in
community health like
Caridad Health Center,
Children’s Services Council,
Adult Immunization programs
and summer camps.
Officers for 2004 are, President, Jacquie Nicholson, RN, of
Boca Community Hospital,
First Vice-President, Pierre
Rodriquez of Wachovia Bank,
Second Vice-President, Ron
Armstrong of the Palm Beach
County School District,
Secretary, Selma Verse, RN,
MeD of Interfaith Health and
Wellness, and Treasurer,
Tenna Wiles of the Palm
Beach County Medical
Society. Accepting board
appointments were, Attorney
Tara Finnigan, Business
Owner Ethel Ceasar-Lomax,
Dr. Delores Turner, and
Yvette LaClaustra, M.D.
The Governor’s Council was formed by former Governor Lawton
Chiles to foster community
health programs that engage
the private sector and
Health Departments to work
together to find local
solutions to local problems.
Programs supported by the
council are breastfeeding
peer counseling, summer camp
scholarship program,
godparent program, childhood
immunizations, health
department volunteers, and
student services.
