PALM BEACH COUNTY, FL-The Palm Beach County Health Department has set up a flu vaccine and referral phone line to take appointments for the flu shot. Clinics will be conducted Saturday, November 13, in Lantana, West Palm Beach, Delray Beach and Belle Glade. This as the state announced earlier today that county health departments would be getting the balance of their order.

Health Director, Jean M. Malecki, MD, MPH, FACPM, said “we want to serve the community as best we can and we are hopeful that we will be able to reach many of the high risk individuals in need of the flu vaccine now that supplies are available.”

The Health Department is conducting their clinics on an appointment only basis and has set up a flu referral and information line to take appointments for the various locations. The number will be manned Monday through Friday from 9:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M. (except Veterans Day) is 561-712-6501. As additional clinics become available this number will also have the latest information.

Persons calling in will be asked if they meet the following criteria:

1. Are you 65 years or older?

2. Do you reside in a nursing or long term care facility?

3. Do you have lung or heart disease?

4. Do you have asthma?

5. Do you have a chronic metabolic disease:
kidney, blood or diabetes?

6. Are you immuno-suppresed?

7. Are you pregnant?

  The Clinics are located:

Health officials are reminding all, that walk-ins will not be seen as only enough vaccine will be available to those having an appointment. This will also eliminate long lines and the stress that can occur as a result.
