Palm Beach County, FL-The Palm Beach County Health Department is encouraging all residents to see if they possess the Peter Pan or Great Value Peanut butter that has been associated with the Salmonella Tennessee cases reported in several states including one case in Florida.

The affected peanut butter has a code that begins with 2111 and is stamped on the lid of the jar. Persons who have this peanut butter should dispose of it or return it to the place of purchase for a refund.

“Salmonella can cause diarrhea, fever and abdominal cramps from 12 to 72 hours after infection. I am recommending that those who suspect they may have salmonella consult their doctor and be tested, “said Dr. Jean Malecki, Health Department Director.

Malecki added, “Any person who has been positively diagnosed with Salmonella Tennessee by a health professional can bring the potentially contaminated peanut butter to the health department for further testing. People should also follow the old rule when it comes to foods--- when in doubt throw it out.”

The Health Department can be reached at 561-840-4566 or people can visit the CDC website at www.cdc.govopens new window. or call ConAgra at 866-344-6970.
