RIVIERA BEACH, FL-The Community Health Division of the Palm Beach County Health Department has been taking a holistic approach to what makes this community healthy now and in the future. Three strategic issues have emerged:

  • How will the county consistently improve health outcomes of its residents?
  • How will quality, equitable, affordable and accessible health services be linked?

What can be done to create an affordable, safe and caring environment for all of our residents?

The third in the series of five workshops on how to create a healthy community with these strategic issues in mind, will take place February 6, from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the Mamye Fredricks Builiding, 1440 Martin Luther King Blvd. Riviera Beach. This workshop will cover two areas, Employment/Money and Food and public input is welcome.

February 6 form 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM Employment/Money and Food will be discussed at the Mayme Fredricks Building, 1440 Martin Luther King Boulevard, Riviera Beach.

Hosting the workshop Employment and Money will be representatives from University of Miami and the Economic Counsel with a vision of how a community can provide plentiful jobs for everyone and where individuals can move up a career and socio-economic ladder. Leading the Food workshop will be representatives from United Way, Palm Beach County Health Department and CROS Ministries with a goal of providing fresh healthy food and water in sufficient supply to individuals and families so no one goes hungry.

Two other workshops covering, Environment, Physical Activity, People/Family, Transportation/Travel will take place through February at other locations in the county.

The Community Health Division has been developing plans and strategies that will set the direction of health in our community over the next 10 years.
