PALM BEACH COUNTY HEALTH
DEPARTMENT
826 EVERNIA STREET
WEST PALM BEACH, FL 33401
JEAN M. MALECKI, MD, MPH,
FACPM
DIRECTOR
WEST PALM BEACH, FL-Palm
Beach County Health
Department Director, Dr.
Jean Malecki today rescinded
the boil water notice for
the central, north, and
western service areas of the
West Palm Beach Water
system. This latest order
clears the entire system.
Water sampling data, the identification of a possible source
of the contamination,
purging the system with a
chlorine burn, flushing the
system and laboratory
results showing contaminants
had been removed combined in
making the decision to lift
the water notice. In
addition, no further reports
of possible illness due to
drinking the contaminated
water have been received
over the last two days by
the Health Department.
“Residents and businesses should let their faucets run for
two to three minutes before
using the water for
drinking, brushing teeth or
cooking”, said Malecki. “I
am also urging everyone to
change or clean any filters
they have on their water
lines before using. These
procedures will help reduce
the chlorine odor people may
be experiencing and flush
any residue that may have
collected during the lack of
use this past week,” Malecki
added
Friday, October 5 the Health Department released the boil
water notice for the water
service areas south of
Okeechobee Boulevard, east
of Florida Mango and the
Towns of South Palm Beach
and Palm Beach.
The Health Department will continue working with the City of
West Palm Beach, Palm Beach
County and other parties to
monitor the areas water
supply and assure its
safety.
