WORTH, FL-The Palm Beach
County Health Department,
managers of the Women,
Infants and Children (WIC)
program for the county, is
adding a seventh site this
month to better serve those
needing its services.
The new WIC site, located at 110 North F Street, will be open
Wednesday of each week from
8:00 AM – 4:30 PM beginning
September 26.
“We have been focusing on getting women into programs that
will assist them now and in
the future with their
newborns,” said Health
Department Director Jean
Malecki, M.D. Malecki added
that transportation is an
issue for many of those who
qualify and by adding
convenient locations more
can and will take advantage
of the program.
The WIC program provides checks for supplemental nutritious
foods like milk, cheese,
eggs fruit or vegetable
juice, iron-fortified
cereal, beans and peanut
butter to children up to
five years, pregnant women
and women after giving birth
for six months. Breast
feeding women also receive
carrots and tuna and
non-breast feeding mothers
receive iron-fortified
formula for their infants.
In addition, the program
provides nutrition
assessment and counseling,
referrals to health care and
other community services,
breast feeding support, and
group classes on nutrition
and parenting.

in the Health Centers in
Jupiter, West Palm Beach,
Lantana, Delray Beach, Belle
Glade and in the Kevin M.
Harvin Center in Royal Palm
Beach. Bilingual staff is
available and all sites can
