BELLE
GLADE, FL – Just two
weeks remain before the
start of school on August 18
and the Palm Beach County
Health Department continues
to accommodate those
students needing
immunizations for the school
year.
A second site has now been added on Saturday, August 9 at 136
Main Street in Belle Glade
from 9 AM to 12 noon for
school shots and school
physicals to those who need
them. Early registration is
suggested for this site by
calling 561-996-3870 or
561-716-3957.
In addition, the immunization van will be at the Redemptive
Life Fellowship Church, 2101
Australian Ave in West Palm
Beach with registration
beginning at 8:30 AM
Saturday. The van will also
be traveling throughout the
coming weeks to various
locations around the county
and the Health Department
Clinics are also taking
appointments daily for the
required shots that are free
to students 18 years and
under.
Palm Beach County Schools require all new registrants for
Kindergarten and transfer
students to show proof they
have been vaccinated for
Diphtheria, Tetanus,
Pertussis, Polio, Measles,
Mumps, Rubella and Hepatitis
B. Students entering the
seventh grade need a
Tetanus/Diphtheria booster,
Td, or can receive the
booster with pertussis
(whooping cough) added, TdaP.
In recent years whooping
cough has been on the rise
and a second dose of the
vaccine is now recommended
for this age group. Also new
for those entering
Kindergarten is proof they
have received a second dose
of the Chicken Pox vaccine
or show evidence they have
had the disease.
Persons can also visit their
medical provider. For
