Acreage Investigation

The Florida Department of Health is looking into a possible cancer cluster that has been brought to their attention by residents of the Acreage.

Palm Beach County Health Department acting Director, Dr. Alina Alonso has said, “We are very concerned for the families who have been affected by cancer in this area. I can assure you that the Health Department is assisting with this investigation and I hope we can find some answers for these families and others living in that area.”

Every Woman Florida is a collaborative project between the March of Dimes and the Florida Department of Health aimed at raising Every Woman Florida is a collaborative project between the March of Dimes and the Florida Department of Health aimed at raising awareness on the importance and benefits of being healthy prior to pregnancy and promoting changes at the individual, healthcare provider and system level. The Every Woman Florida website serves as an information portal for healthcare providers on preconception health. The site contains health tips, assessment tools and printable patient education handouts and guidance for providers on provision of preconception health services based on the CDC recommendations. New Law Affecting Child Care Facilities, Family Day
Care Homes and Large Family Child Care Homes

DuringImmunization Brochure and Information the 2009 legislative session, a new law was passed that requires child care facilities, family day care homes and large family child care homes provide parents with information detailing the causes, symptoms, and transmission of the influenza virus (the flu) every year during August and September.
The Department of Children and Family Services in consultation with the Department of Health created a brochure for providers to give to parents/legal guardians to meet this new requirement.   The brochure explains to parents/legal guardians the causes and symptoms of the flu, how the influenza virus may be transferred, and how it should be treated.
