Florida Department of Health:
To promote access to quality health care for
the medically underserved and uninsured
residents of FL through the commitment of
volunteers.
The key to the continued success of these
volunteer initiatives is the sustained
support of various professional
associations, public/private partnerships,
and individuals who commit to strengthen and
develop collaborative relationships in their
local communities.
History
Since its beginnings our volunteers have
been recognized locally and statewide for
their outstanding service to the people.
Founded almost 40 years ago by the first
County Health Director, Dr. Carl L.
Brumback, volunteers have provided
innovative, pioneering, caring action to
ensure a healthy environment in our county.
Florida encourages the use of volunteers
within all state agencies through Chapter
110, FL Statutes. Florida Department of
Health, realizing its limited resources and
fiscal constraints, as well as the value of
volunteers, advocates the use of volunteers
to augment its public health functions.
Employment:
Long term volunteering is an excellent way
to gain experience. If you are solely
seeking employment, People First
is the official site for those seeking a
career in Public Service in Florida State
Government. All jobs are publicly posted and
competitively screened as openings arise.
