WIC is the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants and Children. The WIC Program serves pregnant, breastfeeding and postpartum women, infants and children up to age 5.


Eligibility Determination:

   
Eligibility for the WIC Program is based on medical or nutrition factors and household income. The family’s gross income must not exceed 185% of the U.S. Poverty Income Guidelines. WIC Income Guidelines An applicant currently receiving Medicaid, Temporary Cash Assistance (TCA), or Food Stamps automatically meets the income eligibility requirement. WIC provides at no cost:

  • Nutrition assessment
  • Nutrition education and counseling
  • Nutrition education groups
  • Breastfeeding information, breast pump loan program, counseling and technical support
  • Checks to purchase specific healthy foods such as:
    Milk, cheese, eggs, cereal, whole grains, fruits and vegetables, juice, peanut butter, beans and baby foods. New WIC Food Packages Infants who are not breastfed will receive the Contract Infant Formulas.
  • Non-contract formulas, exempt infant formulas and medical foods with written request and appropriate medical documentation.  Medical Documentation for Formula and Food Form
  • Referrals for healthcare, immunizations and other community services

WIC services are provided by Registered and Licensed Nutritionists, Nutrition Educators, Health Educators, Breastfeeding Peer Counselors and International Board Certified Lactation Consultants.
